Job description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced caregiver to provide dedicated support to a female patient managing diabetes and cancer.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in caregiving and hold a caregiver certification. This role requires a blend of medical knowledge, emotional support, and practical assistance to ensure the patient’s comfort and well-being.

This is a full time and permanent role – to be filled as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

Monitor and manage blood sugar levels, administer insulin or other prescribed diabetes medications as directed by the healthcare provider.
Provide first aid and recognize signs of medical emergencies, contacting healthcare professionals when needed.
Help with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Prepare nutritious, diabetes-friendly meals aligned with dietary guidelines.
Ensure proper hydration and monitor food intake to manage the patient’s health effectively.
Offer companionship, emotional encouragement, and a positive presence to reduce stress and promote mental well-being.
Support the patient during medical appointments, ensuring they understand treatment plans and healthcare recommendations.
Maintain a clean and safe living environment, including light housekeeping and laundry.
Organize medications and medical supplies for easy access and safety.
Keep detailed records of the patient’s health status, treatments, and any significant changes.
Communicate effectively with family members, healthcare providers, and other involved parties.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience as a caregiver, preferably with patients managing chronic illnesses like diabetes and cancer.
Certification in caregiving or nursing assistance.
Knowledge of diabetes management, including blood glucose monitoring and insulin administration.
Understanding of cancer care and treatment protocols.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
